Practical training in Periodontology and oral implementology- First year
Management of clinical cases shall begin from first year onwards. On clinical training should be as follows:
First year(Practical training) Basic periodontology:
- Knowledge of different indices and talking at least 10 casesof each
- Case analyses and detailed treatment plan
- Oral prophylaxis including root planning
- Maintenance and supportive periodontal therapy
- Appropriate laboratory training in Histo-pathology and microbiology of periodontal diseases
- Basic principles of implantology
- Hands – on table demonstration of various implant systems
- Library dissertation – 2 copies to be submitted to the head of the department at the end of the first year
Practical training in Periodontology and oral implementology- Second year
Second year (Practical training): Basic surgical procedures:-
- Principle of surgical technique
- Anesthetics: Their uses and abuses
- Non-surgical managements of periodontal cases – 30 cases
- Various types of simple procedures for pocket eradication
- Coronoplsaty and occlusal rehabilitation
- Splints
- X-ray interpretation of different periodontal conditions
- Initiation of clinical cases of implantology, pre-surgical diagnostic, treatment plan procedures and insertion of implant
- Mucogingival surgery
- Osseous grafts
- Guided tissue regeneration
- Treatment of full mouth periodontal involved cases with detailed history, photographs, x-ray laboratory investigations, occlusal rehabilitation and follow up records
- Follow-up records of implant cases
- Evaluation of all the cases.
