Master of Dental Surgery ( Oral Medicine )
Objectives:
  1. Knowledge: Theoretical clinical and practical knowledge of all mucosal lesions diagnostic procedures pertaining to them and latest information of imaging modules.
  2. Skills and attitudes: important skills need to be impacted
    • Diagnostic skill in recognition of oral lesions and their management
    • Research skills in handling 3 scientific problems pertaining to oral treatment
    • Didactic skills in encouraging younger doctors to attain learning objectives.
  3. Attitudes: the positive mental attitude and a persistence of continued learning need to be inculcated.
  4. Essential knowledge: Basic medical subjects Oral medicine, clinical dentistry management of medical emergencies oral Radiology techniques & interpretation diagnosis of oro-facial disorders.
  5. Procedural & Operative skills

1 st year

  • Examination of patient FNAC & Biopsy – Observe assist and perform under supervision
  • Intra-Oral radiographs – perform and interpretation

2 nd year

  • Dental treatment to medically compromised patients - Observe assist and perform under supervision.’
  • Extra Oral Radiographs, Digital Radiography – Observe Assist and perform under supervision.

Operative skills:

  • Giving intra muscular and intravenous injections
  • Administration of Oxygen and life saving drugs to the patients
  • Performing basic C.P.R. and certification by Red Cross.

3 rd year

  • All the above – performed independently.
